Map view can crash?

Map view can crash?
I was just in the logical overview of one of my stations when the whole thing just suddenly booted me back out to FPS view. I was standing on my Astrid, not in a seat or anything. And when I went back into the map it went back to default settings, you know the one where it shows the Object List, the top most option. I know because I normally keep it on the second top option Property Owned but whenever I load a save it goes back to Object List.

For what it's worth - I've mostly had something like this happen with the player information view (menu/view closing on its own). This is with 7.10 HF3, vanilla. With the map view I've had situations where some parts of the interface don't seem to update correctly - like trying to trade with a station while a ("correct") ship is selected, but the info shown in the trading screen is wrong/previously selected ship.
I think in 6.20 or 7.0 I even had to do a either a full reload of the savegame or use the /reloadui command to be able to get back into player information menu. Although, I was some using some mods with 6.20, so can't guarantee it was a vanilla issue.
Can't recall if I have had same issues as you described with the map view, but I kinda recall sometimes seeing object list being selected when I don't expect it to (I use it very, very rarely so it kinda stands out). I am not 100% sure about it, though (I have kinda gotten used to just closing/opening the menu semi-automatically when I hit something weird).

The first part of yours sounds like lag, I know I've had issues in my late game save before where the selected ship is something else because I moved a bit when clicking and selecting or whatever.
As for my issue though, the whole thing is basically similar to what I see on my phone when an app crashes, it just boots you back to the home screen and you need to relaunch it. Frankly I'm just impressed that it didn't crash the whole game at the same time so kudos to the devs.
It isn't an issue, yet, I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

So, this might not be the same issue you have run into - but I have noticed now that quite often the map view "crashes" for me when I try to use a "Drop Inventory" command on some of my repeat orders container collectors - possibly when they end up with way too many items in the inventory (I have them deposit inventory manually every now and then since the HQ is a bit far away from collection points "currently", and I think I was missing out on some containers before due to them expiring).
So... Probably there is a couple of spots where the GUI kinda just dies.
