Hey all,
I'm mining and selling Nividium to boost my relatively early-game cash flow. I have a couple of stations that are set to collect a small amount (5k or so) alongside, other raw materials such as Ore and Silicon I will need eventually for my own production. As I've sold to various Trading Stations - one in Black Hole Sun V, another in Grand Exchange III - offer prices have dropped as demand is satisfied. Periodically, demand goes up again, but only rarely, I assume this is scripted consumption and not the station selling Nividium to someone.
I recall, in earlier game versions, demand for Nividium was high, perhaps too high, and able to be exploited for significant passive income. Things have since changed, but I do wonder what drives Nividium demand as only Trading Stations buy it and, other than the Player for research, I don't think anything actually uses it.
I've been wanting to sell Nividum to the Trading Station in The Void, but its demand has always been low. So, can I assume that Faction-owned Miners are perhaps satisfying demand? I'm not 100% sure that Factions mine the stuff, I've never noticed - nor have I really looked lol - miners belonging to other Factions trading the stuff.
While my current set up is automated, Mining station, assigned miners, assigned traders, I can of course do larger manual sales of Nividium for a quick cash injection. However, I'd rather keep it automated.
Note: I'm testing in the v7.50 Beta currently. Due to Faction-owned Stations often having their own Miners Assigned, my traditional route of being THE Raw Materials provider to my area of space doesn't work any more. Ore and Silicon demand for example, is always low, high hundreds, low thousands low. No point setting up a Mining Warehouse for sales. Nividium however, considering I need some myself for research anyway, well, I thought I'd set up some operations to mine and sell that - setting a reserve for what I need for when I need it.

I think it is just slowly removed from trade stations over time.

Hi,
1) I don't think NPCs are mining Nividium at all.
2) You don't need to set up dedicated Niv-miners. Just create a storage and a buy order on your HQ and/or mining stations. Your miners will bring Nividium in, in small amounts, but steadily.
3) There are a handful of stations buying Nividium. There's one BOR, one VIG and one CUB/FRF (in the far right of the map), which are buying up to 15000 Niv. There are some more buying smaller amounts at a time.

I initially assumed exactly that, a slow, but steady, reduction in inventory to simulate consumption at the station. However, having seen storage levels at the Trading Station in The Void, not change in hours I wondered if someone else was offloading there. I've not sold anything to that station yet myself, yet it has the lowest demand of any of the Trading Stations I'm discovered.
Yep, that's exactly what I've done.RainerPrem wrote: ↑Thu, 19. Dec 24, 20:56 Hi,

None of the stations in my game are buying more than 3,000 units - which I rapidly fill up. I had set my sale price to 500cr, but I reduced that to 480, but have only made one sale in quite a while. I'll keep exploring, perhaps I'll find a high-demand station and I'll manually ship a load out. Currently I had the Trading Stations in Black Hole Sun V and Grand Exchange III covered by a Mining Warehouse in Back Hole Sun IV. This station should soon, hopefully be able to sell to the HAT Trading Station in Hatikvah's Choice I, once the Manager, or at least one trader, levels up to thee stars. My Mining Warehouse in Antigone Memorial has gathered a surprising amount of Nividium, but the price on offer at the Trading Station in The Void hasn't budged in hours, nor has its stock level.
It would be nice if something used Nividium, outside of Research as a dead-end resource isn't ideal. Perhaps it could be used as some sort of secondary resource to boost productivity, like Workforce does? I.e. let's say it grants a bonus to Energy Cell production, or boosts Microchip / Smartchip production because of its "special properties". Popping this behind some sort of "Nividium research" might be cool, to unlock its properties.
I think I've managed to collect more Nividium this game, than I usually would. I normally hoard it all as soon as I'm mining - usually from a Mining Warehouse - anticipating future Teleportation research.

Nividium is the plot resource it seems. And maybe with teleportation properties, remember X3?
Maybe in X5 or a JD DLC we'll need it to build our own gates or JDs or whatever.
