I often play all sides, in that I'm good friends with all races for the most part. This isn't really by design or specific effort. Rather, I'm just trying to make money and if you want to buy my stuff, or have stuff that I want to buy, we can do a deal. Over time, this makes everyone your friend lol. Also, if someone they don't like get's blown up by my ships because *I* don't like them, that's a bonus too. I'm blockading a gate mainly for me, but if that nearby station of yours like what I did, great. Basically, good relations will most Factions tends to happen for me, unless I role-play a specific way.
I had a load of my ships - well equipped, with good Marines, deployables etc. docked at an Equipment Dock. Another ally of mine don't like the owners of that Equipment Dock and had sent a veritable task force to take it out. During their attack, they took out the Dock where all my ships were. All of them, gone, in moments. Millions of credits, hours of "training" for the Marines, etc. Gone in seconds.
Now, my current game is mature, I can easily replace this loss, but that's really not the point at this stage. The issue is that the game doesn't give any alert for this. There's no enemy action from my part, so, unlike with Xenon, why would I set an Alert to tell me if an allied destroyer has entered the sector? I wouldn't of course. However, when a station that I have ships docked at comes under attacked - specifically the Dock my ships are on, if it's possible to tell - then I'd REALLY like to be informed of this please

This got me to thinking, should ships have an "emergency take-off" option where they managed to lift-off just as a dock goes boom? Should a station have a "safety" system to eject ships - even those in internal storage - if a dock is near death. I.e. a dock becomes non-functional at say 10% hull, causing the "safeties" to eject docked ships. I imagine a bulkhead blowing out and a ship exiting the station sort of thing. When this happens, and alert of some kind would be nice.
I think, seeing ships fleeing a near-death dock would be quite cool. As would seeing say a Carrier panic-launch all docked ships if it thought it was near-death.
While this doesn't really bother me in my current game - I did reload anyway, as I had a very recent save and I found the event somewhat irksome - due to being a multi-billionaire with several shipyards of my own, it did get me to thinking... What if this happened quite early-game? Ans what if I didn't have a particularly recent save? It's easy, I find to be playing and for an hour to pass before remembering to save. A lot can happen in an hour.
What do people think? Alerts when a Station at which you have ships docked comes under attack useful? What about an ability for ships to "emergency undock" from a compromised, near destruction, dock?
