Losing plots when station is destroyed. WHY!?

i dont understand why having my station blowing up half way through building immediately takes the plot of space away from me. why is this?
i bought that plot.
i own it.
its mine.
if i want to clear the wreck and start rebuilding immediately i should be able to. instead i keep having to rebuy the plot of space and start over. bad enough the xenon keep destroying every defense station i try and build 2 f-ing seconds after i start building it but costing me the plot of space and locking me out of trying to rebuild for waaay too long is just unnecessary frustration. :evil:

as much as i am loving this game, the massive pile of QoL issues and the near complete lack of information in or out of game is really holding this series back. and the new player onboarding is absolute crap. it took me 4 trys to get into this game simply because the game doesn't tell you how to do anything and i got tired of having to google and youtube stuff every 5 minutes while learning to play.

if there is ever an X5 i hope you guys spend a little more time considering some of these things. the little frustrations add up over time and there are a lot of them.

i still like the game tho. it wouldn't tick me off so much if i didn't like it enough to care. i complain with love! :lol:

It's probably for the best. We also kill stations, and I don't want their plots to be immortal.

Rather than try and fail repeatedly, take some precautions. Even if you are dirt poor and this defence station is all you can afford (maybe in that case you shouldn't do this, but whatever), a mass deployment of laser towers is very cheap.

yeah thats what i tried the third time i attempted to build this defense station. literally 3 seconds after it got enough parts to start building a K came thru and wrecked it. i some how managed to pull this off without even trying in my last save and now that i have learned how to play i'm struggling like hell in this new save. how does that happen? oh well. there is like 30 laser towers there now and TER is stacking stuff on the few ships i have near there. maybe when they like me enough to guard my stuff a little more i can try again. come to think of it thats probably what happen last time.

i stand by what i said about the new player experience tho. i think one of the main reasons this game and series is not more popular is that it takes so much effort to learn. a better new player onboarding experience and a little more hand holding while introducing a mechanic would go a long way towards retaining new players and making the game sell more.

30 is honestly low. I have in the past taken a frigate with its full capacity of mk2 laser towers (still cheaper than the frigate) and ringed a gate with them as an emergency measure to keep Xenon out before I could afford a fleet or station. This withstood all the Xenon coming through for days of gameplay. Even the capitals jumping in next to it. The things are frankly overpowered for what they cost.

The onboarding does leave something to be desired but in this case I think it's more that constructing something in the path of an enemy faction when you are not prepared to defend it is not really intended to work. Even if the plot did not die, it doesn't sound like you'd make much progress, because your station itself would keep getting killed—and possibly the constructor too.

Scale Plate is excellent source for somehow free destroyers (tuneup them will cost). 4*Phoenix + 1*Behemoth can keep K away, protect the plot and construction operation.

When you are operating is hostile area (like near gates next of Xenon territory) you should prepare building. Bring freighters (use both M- and L-size as they can dock same time) onsite which have critical construction materials for first defence modules (prioritize their building first so you get atleast 5 modules until build anything else). When your destroyers have taken out enemy wave, then buy plot, design defence platform and give order for onsite freighters to bring in their cargo.
Also if you have your own construction ship bring that near too so it can start working as soon as possible. If not then try find the nearest construction ship which have 30+ construction drones to handle building.
