Carriers and Supply Ships, when given Attack with Fleet orders, have a tendency to close in on the station and can get obliterated by the turrets. Here's my suggestion:
Bombardment weapons ghost for friendly fire and range and lead to the station target. This includes mixed Bombardment weapons - the ATF main battery has more range than the Terran standard Destroyer weapons.
Ships move around the station turret ghost range, not into it, if they are capital vessels.
Fighters on Carriers and Support Ships autolaunch when Synch points activate, and strip surface elements.
Medium ships autolaunch on Synch Points and defend Carriers and Supply Ships. In the event of Capital Ship opposition a Destroyer will peel off and engage, if there are enough Destroyers.
