【HELP】My ship has a power outage - Explained.

Post by GlisterL »

Hydra Regal
inside and outside, she just has no light

How to restore her to the original state
please help me. Regal, the only one
///////

WHAT HAPPENED:
The ship was parked in a dock that was about to be dismantled (in fact, there are 3 seconds left to complete the dismantling). To save it, I used the cheat menu to teleport it out. After she was rescued, she lost all kinds of light inside and outside the ship, including the cockpit lights and the exterior flow lights.

I think she might be in "sleep mode", and I forcibly woke her up while she was sleeping.
I want the light back, please, does anyone know how to do it?

(Forgive me for English, it's not my native language, and its my first time posting, i just want my Regal to have light.
I would be grateful if you answered or discussed.)

Unfortunately your images don't work and you've not provided any of the information requested in the very first thread at the top of the forum, so we really can't help.

Thanks. We can see what's happening now, but we still need the other information requested in the post entitled "Technical Support Requests - Please read this before posting!" at the top of the forum in order to have any real chance of being able to help you.

I'm going to make last one attempt to help you here, after which I will have no choice but to give up. We cannot help you without any information to work with. As it says in the "Technical Support Requests - Please read this before posting!" thread at the top of the forum, we need your game version, your DXDiag and vulkaninfo (the thread explains how to provide these), and whether or not your game is modified. If it's not modified, then we will also need your savegame (again, the thread explains how to provide this).

I am wondering from your mention of a "cheat menu" whether you are using a modified game, in which case we may not be able to help you anyway, as the mod or mods you are using may have changed something in an unknown way.

You can create the same effect if you are in a ship that is docked at a station, where you then dismantle the dock exactly.
While the dock is being dismantled, you sit at the helm of the landed ship and undock.
The ship is then in an inconsistent state between Existent and Destroyed and therefore indestructible.
I didn't have a power failure, but I did have open doors because I was using an S ship. I'll try the same thing again later with an M ship and submit a save if necessary, but unfortunately I don't have the time right now.

In the normal case, docked ships are destroyed when the module is removed.

There was a similar bug report in the German forum 1 or 3 years ago, but I can't find it at the moment.

The cheat menu is a modification.
there is no possibility to teleport ships, but that makes the savegame ‘modified’

Try to recreate the same bug without a modification.

Game saves, can be uploaded via
Google drive
Onedrive (Microsoft) ,
Owncloud (if you have your own server)
or filehosters for example
https://www.file-upload.net/
Or you have rented a server, but are too lazy to do it via owncloud and pack it directly in the http directory for download :-)

Edit

Now with a M Ship
steps to reproduce
Start with Save_002.xml.gz

Go to the station construction menu of the station where I landed.
Remove the S/M module there and confirm it. from then on a timer runs

At the first moment you can no longer interact with the ship. Leave the seat (stand up)
You will immediately notice that the lights in the ship are off.
Sit at the helm of the ship and take off, gain a few meters distance (if necessary)
Observe the dismantling of the S/M dock. The ship in which you are sitting will remain after the dismantling is completed, but all lights will be off. Possibly the ship is now in the inconsistent status Destroyed and Existing. (Possibly indestructible?)

A similar issue happened to me when I captured the Astrid. When I claimed it, it went to 1% hull. The lights were out in the whole ship.

I tried:
- Pressing the switches in the bedroom and main desk
- Docking / Undocking
- Loading Game / Exiting game entirely
- Putting into internal storage

None of which worked.

Here's what worked:
I had repaired it to max with just my repair beam, so I had to damage the hull a bit and then take it in to a repair dock. Boom, lights back on
FYI I was on the ship and in the sector when it underwent repairs, if that matters...

There was another recent thread which turned out to be about this (ships left in deconstructing docks). That save if still there is unmodified IIRC and if you teleport to the ship whose ID I mentioned in the thread you should see it undergoing this process before ultimately dying when the deconstruction finishes.

From the sound of it, OP used a mod to teleport the ship out of the vanishing dock and prevent its destruction (which did not appear to be possible in vanilla—the ship always died). So now it persists in that broken state. The deconstruction of ships in docks is presumably(?) intended behaviour, but perhaps players being able to access them (even in vanilla) after deconstruction begins is not?

YES YES YES!!!
YOU ARE EXACTLY RIGHT
Thank you so much!!!!! Hit it, repair it, my ship has light now!!

---------------------

However, after all this inquiring and tossing, I think that my Hydra Regal without light is more unique:)
So I didn't save the game.
And now, she is still in whole dark and with a new name "Dark Knight-Hydra Regal", safely docked in the Sanctuary of Darkness.
what an epic ending!

---------------------

Sincerely, thanks for you help, let's continue to explore this wonderful universe.

Thank you so much for such a rigorous and scientific post!
It's a very interesting experiment and I even want to include it in my college essay. xD
I will do deeper research in my free time.
