[#2945] Fighters idle during enagament - Fixed in a future update

Post by Jar B »

Version and language: 7.10 (538965), English
Modified: no, Vanilla
Game start: Fires of Defeat

Nature of the problem
One of my carriers CEE-366 (4c 1 Zeus) is deployed in Two Grand to protect mining operations from Khaak aggression. Fighters are deployed to three defense positions in close proximity. By chance I've found when engaged with a handful of :khaak: OOS some fighters turn "south" (-Z) and idle, not approaching enemy fighters next to them. This immediately changes when I teleported IS.

Is this new in v7? Is there anything I can do to improve pilot responsiveness? Is my Ryzen 5600X finally at its limits and there's no more excuse to upgrade? :goner:

Any possibly relevant changes you have made to your game, system, or software before the issue occurred.
Only the upgrade from v6 to v7 recently. (Extended hiatus. Elbow issues.)

There's another forum post I kicked off earlier: viewtopic.php?p=5249550. Maybe merge?

edit: Is there anything I can do?
edit: updated links, formatting

No to the merge as the earlier thread is in the wrong forum for Tech Sp.

Can I resolve this issue by shovelling more computronium into my case? 5600x -> (7800x3d|9800x3d)?

I don't think more CPU will make any difference in this respect, as the issue here sounds very much like the bug I reported a couple months ago which supposedly has been fixed, but has not yet been made available to us as it was pending testing.
It certainly is a gamebreaking issue for me seeing as I rely heavily on fighter squadrons functioning properly in my game, and this issue is causing much higher fighter attrition losses, so I simply haven't been able to play the game since then while I wait for the fix to go live.

The only thing we can do is wait, unfortunately, unless your issue is determined to be different from that other bug.

It's due to an optimization when a ship isn't able to do damage on its last attempt. But I agree that ships standing still as a result looks odd. Fixed. Should be in a future update. Thanks for the report and the save.
