[7.10] ver. 538965 EN - BUG - entire universe stops working

Post by dasdaa »

- game is not modified
- start is stranded, tides of avarice
- no changes to the game were made

I was playing as usual using seta and suddenly all ships in the universe came to a standstill. if you try to give any of your ships an order they do nothing and the order on the map stays grey. they dont respond to commands at all. on the entire map every single ship just stopped. one ai on my kata crew keeps walking back and forth but thats it.

It sounds like that specific savegame is corrupt, and missing the script-related data at the end. If so then you would have to revert to a previous savegame as that can't be restored once lost.

If it's happening with older saves that you were previously able to load without problems, then you might want to do a full file verification of the game in case that's been corrupted.

Both your Nvidia and Intel graphics drivers (and hence Vulkan) could probably do with being updated.

According to your Windows Error Reports, most of your AppCrashes are with OneDrive, and the two reported in X4 to lua51_64.dll.

The file lua51_64.dll is part of lua code handling and is found in 'Steam\steamapps\common\X4 Foundations' and so if missing or corrupt then it *should* be detected and repaired by a Steam X4 installation verification. Since you have done that already, I don't know what else to suggest.

The problem is that the lua file may be the cause or just being reported as a symptom of something else such as corruption, driver or hardware issues. I suspect it is not the likely cause as we are seeing a few reports of weird X4 behaviour and instability associated with Intel 13th/14th Gen cpus and powerful graphic cards such as Nvidia RTX 40xx. Solutions, where found, seem to vary on a case by case basis including such as BIOS changes and hardware RMA replacements (not that I am saying that those must apply here).

Is this issue still happening for you on any save after updating and verifying stuff?

The issue is present in the provided save for me, but I'm not sure if it's caused by the game, or something else. Especially since it's affecting older saves.
