[#2845][7.10] Satellite football when deploying satellites

Post by vvvvvvvv »

At some point there was a change introduced where all deployable have velocity. So if you deploy a satellite at a high speed, it'll continue flying. Which is good.

The issue here is that momentum also is applied OOS, which runs at reduced framerate. And that is not so good. As a result, a fast scout can toss a satellite half a sector away, due to the way velocity is calculated (seems it is based on position difference between frames divided by delta rather than ship's stored velocity).

This normally does not happen when you watch them over map.

It does happen when you SETA, however it also happens in low framerate situation, or when the game is running in background.

To see the problem, get an Irukanji, ask it to deploy satellites OOS in hexagon pattern, then either SETA or Alt-Tab to a different window, or drop framerate to sub-30. This can be done if you set ultra quality, max resolution, going to teladi representative office and operate the map from here.

Proposal: Would be nice if velocity for OOS-deployed items was forced to be set to zero or if there was an option for that.
