This is a weird one, and it doesn't seem to happen after a save / reload.
Generally, fleeing is about as good as it's ever been. When ships choose to flee, well, they're still not very good at that decision, but once they're fleeing (if appropriate) they're better at it. However, there's a new phenomenon I see from time to time with fleeing ships, that's getting them killed...
One of my Scouts just fled after flying into a cluster of Kha'ak surrounding a Kha'ak station (oops!). It actually escaped successfully, despite being under fire. It's an Elite Sentinel with middle-of-the-road equipment, so it did well. However, while fleeing in full travel mode, EASILY out-distancing any attackers, it suddenly INSTANTLY reversed course while facing the original vector, any forward momentum translating into reverse momentum - as if it hit something and epically bounced. This "bounce" took it right back into proximity of Kha'ak ships. It did still escape, but it was closer than it should have been.
I'm observing this OOS so collisions shouldn't really be a thing, not that there was anything there though. Has anyone else seen this? It's occurred a couple of times for me now, always a ship that's fleeing and has managed to out-distance its attackers. It gets away clean, then suddenly REVERSES at full speed. It's still showing the Flee order when this happens.
I cannot reproduce this and it's pretty rare, but this was a legitimate flee (ship was attacked, not just hailed (harassed) while dozens of km away) and it did a GOOD job of getting away...before reversing back towards its attackers.

This has always happened in my games as far as I can tell.
Looks almost like the simulation is projecting the future position of a ship and then retcons it after it's been 'hit'.
