[FeatureRequest] QoL: resource probes should display range when placed
What the title says. When you place advanced satellites, you get a wire sphere on order marker, indicating what its range is going to be. There's no such sphere on resource probe placement orders.

Similar thread, so you are not alone.

I agree this would make sense and make placement without overlapping areas easier especially if you want to cover as much of the asteroid field as possible instead of just placing one somewhere in it.

Not sure this is needed. In my experience, miners don't stay within a resource probe's sphere anyway. I recently dropped a couple of probes in Rolk's Demise and set an autominer to work. It ignored where I'd dropped the probes and flew off to the other side of the sector and proceeded to mine in an area where there was no probe. Thinking it had found an area that was even better, I had it drop another probe. It's choice of mining area was significantly worse than where I'd placed the original probes.
Just two or three probes in a sector seems to satisfy the miners, so that's all they get. No need to fill a sector with probes. It seems "the grass is always greener on the other side of the [sector]".

Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

Hmmm. Do you think you could game it by placing probes next to poor nodes, knowing that the miners will "greener grass" their way into mining the good nodes?Nanook wrote: ↑Tue, 20.
