[7.10 Stable] FPS drop issue during battle + hit detection failure

Post by Krisscut »

Hi,

I'm having an issue with a fight I'm in right now against the Xenon.
It was pretty smooth initially but then I got sudden FPS drop from 60 down to around 10 or so FPS.
It seems because of that my defense station as well as many ships aren't taking as many shots as they should, and there are a lot of shots from the plasma turrets on the defense station that phases through the Xenon K.

Technical information:

Version: 7.10 Stable
Game is not modified
Game start is Terran Cadet
No particular change done to my software/hardware when issue got detected.

Save game / dxdiag/vulkan info: See https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

Save game context:

Middle/end-game save with 8d on it and a lot of assets, but usually not fps drop like that due to it(yet ? )

When you load the save you will be on guppy light carrier some distance from the fight which takes place in Two Grand on the Eastern gate towards Fires of Defeat
There were 1 I and 2 K that came through the gate along with a few fighters and frigates escort. On my end 4 destroyers, 2 Guppy with 16 fighters each and a defense station + its drone.
At the time of the save 1 I and 1 K are down.

I was watching the fight using f3 view on the defense station that is there when I noticed the issue with the K destroyer.
Note that reloading the save it seems initially the hits are correctly registered but then it occurred again. (And sometimes it is working again, but not 100% reliable). FPS issue I always reproduce.

Also note that teleporting away from the system and coming back to it fixes the FPS issue. At least on my system. It doesn't seem related to the the K because even when dead the FPS is not recovering if I don't teleport away.

Some screen/gif I took of the hit registration issue. (Note that 60 FPS is visible in the top right but this is with the game paused)

Do you have more than one Nvidia 4090 graphics card? You have multiple installations of one shown and many are at the same resolutions and so possibly redundant installations of card and driver in parallel.

Your Nvidia graphics driver and your AMD graphics driver can both be updated, which will also update your Vulkan. Use the manufacturers' driver update sites and not Windows Update for this.

You have multiple sound devices and your Steam sound has a driver going back to 2017. I would disable what sound you don't use in Control Panel, Device Manager, Sound/Audio Devices (right-click on a device in the listing for a disable/enable pop-up).

Some of your Windows Error Reports seem to be updating issues.

I hope that something here may help with your fps issue (lack of expected hit detection is often a symptom of poor frame rate issues).

Thanks for the quick feedback, yes correct I will try to update the drivers !

Regarding the Graphics card showing multiple time, I think it's once per screen since it is displayed 4 times and I have 4 screens. (Playing on a 2K one)

For the Steam drivers, it could possibly related to Steamlink which must emulates a sound driver ? But in my case I wasn't using steam link at the time of the failure. (But did use it in the past/recently)

For the Windows Error reports, if you think about StoreAgentAcquireLicenseFailure1, i'm pretty sure it is because I'm playing some Xbox games sometimes and the XBox app is always forgetting that i'm logged in and I need to connect back
And it does mention that I need to log back on the windows store so I think it checks out :D
