In the save file, is the outfit an NPC wears tied to the "macro" attribute of the <person> element, or the "seed" of the <npcseed> element? I ask because I like to customize my NPCs, so I'll save the seeds of attractive (male & female) NPCs and use them in new saves to keep my favorite crew members, but I also like having a dress code of sorts, where my managers will wear formal clothing like the dressy sweaters and suits, my officers will wear Terrain outfits, my marines will wear those gun belt mercenary outfits, etc. I'm hoping that facial features are separate from outfits (especially since the macros are faction-specific), so I can change the uniforms of NPCs who already have the facial features I'm looking for.
If uniform is tied to the macro, I'm guessing it's both the profession (pilot, marine, etc) and the number that changes the uniform. I could try just randomly changing all these things and see what happens, but if someone else already knows the answer, it'll save me a lot of time, as reloading a save in this game isn't exactly fast. It would really be swell if someone has made a list of macros to corresponding uniforms, if that's how it works. If it's tied to the random seed, then I guess it's back to searching for the perfect faces AND uniforms and saving those numbers.

Well, to quote the great and mighty Thanos, "Fine. I'll do it myself." Give me a couple of days, and I'll update this thread with the results of my experiments (will take time due to reload lag). That way the question will have an answer for future generations.
