Please fix this. It is a major pain. What happens is the escorts do not escort the formation, they just casually amble toward it. Sometimes the escort gets entirely on the opposite side of the map. And if the protected ship gets attacked, there is nothing the escorts can do about it. This has been a problem for as long as I've played this game. It makes what is in essence a very fun game, and turns it into something that makes you want to pull your hair out.

Example - when starting both ships are in the same sector.
- click on "Gunboat/Wolfman"
- right click on "Merchant/StarSurfer"
- select 'defend commander' => 'alpha'
Once the fleet is created everything starts out fine. Then the merchant jumps to another sector. The gunboat slows down and takes its time. The gunboat gets to the new sector just as the merchant is jumping to the next. This trend continues until the gunboat has a snowballs chance in hades of catching up. The end result is a plunderer decides he wants that cargo and the merchant gets blown up.
At the moment, the only thing I've found to do about this is to periodically find the escort ship. break it from the formation. give it a command to fly to a point near the merchant, then finally reattach it to the formation. This micro-management kills the experience.
Please, for the love of all that is holy, fix this!
Thanks from a frustrated fan.
p.s. - one more thing it does. sometimes when the escort gets left behind in a sector it will try and overcompensate. It will hurry to jump to the new sector, then zoom past the merchant and jump to the next sector where it will wait for the merchant to catch up. kind of the opposite of my other complaint.

Re: Escore behavior issues
Please include the information requested the very first thread at the top of the forum in your report. It is important for us to know whether your game is modified, for example. If you can also provide a savegame that demonstrates the problem you are describing then that would vastly increase the chances of us being able to identify what the issue is. The thread at the top of the forum explains how to do that.
