Timelines - bombs defuse mission - frustrated...

Post by M@ReK »

Hi, can anybody advice me on the "Bombs Defuse" mission in the last Graph?

I have tried like 30 times, some bombs are near the cameras which never turns blue, so the "terrorist" always goes mad when I destroy them and he blows up the whole station. I am starting to think, there is no way to finish this one...

the cameras only care if you shoot the bombs. there are other things to shoot.

Still tricky... defusing seems to always result in damage as well.

near these red cameras, there may be a gas pipe, which you can carefully shoot at, the flame burst will then destroy the bomb. there are also a pair of bombs on generators, if you shoot at the generators, they produce lightning, which then destroys the bomb.

Hi there, i have another Problem concerning the noise detectors. I never manage to get through without detection, mainly the first room with the vent in front of it is a problem here. Any clues ?

And like others said the you can destroy 4-5 bombs with indirect damage as there were the 2 bombs in the always red camera room sitting on top of damageable reactors, one bomb you can bump on to make it fly in the poison room, and another 2 damageable by gas pipe and another reactor.
I recommend starting left room, then go back to right room, then back to start, because theres a way behind your starting point. This leads to a long hallway with 3 gaspipes, prettty remarkable place. Because right at the point where these flames point at is an o2 supply which you can always use and dont have to wait for your oxygen to run out. So you never have o2 probs again. And this way leads to the always red camera room too, without getting detected.

The game tells you to "not collide with anything, nor touch your thrusters... So I boost there in hopes of floating past it... [annoying nasal Split voice] "What's that noise??"

*grunts*

by the way, I wonder how many people ended up on the NSA's watchlist by googling hints to this mission ^^

lol, yeah nsa appreciated bomb diffusers :)
Got it, the only way to get through undetected is to boost max !
In detail: the slightest throttle even under 1m/s gets you detected. BUT when you boost and then release, there is no throttle and you can drift approx 10 meters.
So i did pick a certain location (for you to test pick always the same location) 40 meters or more away, aimed correctly and disabled mouse. Check the VENT rotation and then max boost, release 1-2 meters before the red lightd area begins. (right moment for me was when the vent correlates with his frame)
If timed correctly you pass through the vent and hear no comment whatsoever from the split.

yup, got it too... I just went ahead and practiced on the vent (the only sound detector you actually need to pass) untill I got it right... it helped me to approach it from a downward angle... not sure if it matters, but it helped in my case... thank Earth!

That's the worst mission by far: 11 attempts and 0 stars.

At least one camera is invulnerable. I keep shooting it but cannot destroy it. And I have a terrible time seeing other cameras.

I've never liked EVA in X4. I get disoriented too easily, especially when I bump in a wall. Moving around is enough of challenge, with the limited air. The map is not useful at all: it does not help me figure out where I am and where I need to go. I had the same problem with the Paranid Temple/Maze. I got so lost in those corridors but made it through by teleporting back to my ship. Here I just run out of air.

Weird part of that mission is not even the moon logic of only using boost and not thrusters contrary to what the narrator tells, but having an important accessibility function -- the third-person camera -- disabled for no justified reasons, as weird as the disabling of repair and leaving the seat on the infamous second mission. What's up with Egosoft and this mysterious "callousness attitude" on Timelines? I've become more frustrated with these small obstacles scattered around the DLC than the bad mission design.
