Error code 1061

Post by JacoS »

Hello,

Please help with this issue. I've been sleuthing the forums and google, but still the issue persists where it crashes with the 1061 error.

No overclocking. Tried all sorts of settings. I'm guessing it's gonna be some driver. Could one of the persons who know please have a look at the files.

Most of your Windows Error Reports are LiveKernelEvents which are usually driver or hardware related. The DxDiag looks mainly OK otherwise though.

Have a look at this thread for ideas although you don't have the same system issues such as weak or integrated graphics.

Error 1061 is usually encountered when the system is getting low on available RAM.

What you haven't done is told us about your game (version, modding state, size/complexity of empire, how long you typically play continuously before it crashes, etc).

Thanks for the quick reply.

I saw that thread and tried to diagnose myself before posting, but still got the same error. I closed all other apps running in the background and my browser to free up RAM.

The game versions is 6.20. No mods. Very beginning of the empire (did like 3-4 missions). I play for 10-15 minutes now then it crashes. When I started it lasted a bit longer, maybe like 30 minutes.

My thoughts are to try these things, in order, when I can:
- Upgrade RAM
- Upgrade GPU

A faint hope given the type of error, but have you verified your game installation?

I have, yes. It successfully validates.

I've tried many suggestions and settings before posting here. I think my GPU is just a bit too old to play this game.

Thanks for the help.

Your GPU meets the minimum requirements, and as such there is no reason why it shouldn't work. Lost device (1061) errors are generally a sign of a more subtle system configuration issue, and that is probably the case for you too. Unfortunately it can sometimes be rather hard to track down.

That's what I thought. But after trying so many different things it still doesn't work. I think I've spent more time trying to fix it than actual playing. I'll try more eventually as it seems like an awesome game.

I am getting the same thing after about 1-2 hours. At first I thought it was because I had some media playing in the background, but after running it (7.0beta) today from a freshly booted system with no other apps running (apart from steam) it still happened.
I am on a RX 7900XTX and a R7 7800X3D with 32GB of ram, I shouldn't be running out of memory.
Sometimes it's a hard crash, sometimes it a driver crash window.

Save is 1day 8 hours old but has done it from the start. No mods.

There can be various causes. Things running in the background is definitely one of them, but running out of memory generally isn't. We can't really offer you any more advice than that without more information. See the very first sticky thread at the top of the forum for the information that we would need, and instructions on how to provide it.

Sorry about the lack of info.
I just wanted to mention that I had the game running all day yesterday with no crashes :D , but I think that is because I switched from fullscreen to borderless windowed mode.
[EDIT] It is still happening from time to time :(
