X-GOLD X:T or X:BTF

Ok I understand that X-tension has the updated graphics from what I have been able to gather from sorting thru the thread.

Is there any other difference's between BTF and Tension other than the fixes and graphics improvements? Such as story line, etc.

I installed Tension but just wonderind if I should bother with BTF.

Also, are thier any fansites still out there "live" with game info. I looked over the links on the ego fansite but either half of them are dead or related to BTF with no mention of Tension.

Yup. New equipment, ability to change ships, navigationable map, improved information interface to mention a few.
I installed Tension but just wonderind if I should bother with BTF.
If dont wanna bother with the story skip to XT.

I'm replaying btf whilst i'm waiting for my copy of x-gold, and by your comment about story are you implying that the story from btf is not available in xtension ? I thought it was an add on (a substantial one I gather).

I know the save games from btf don't work with xt, but I thought id' be able to replay the story in xt when i get it.

Please inform :)

X-T is a complete new game which masquerades as an add-on. You can't load X-BTF saves into X-Tension and it does not have a plot; nor can you play X-BTF with the X-Tension enhancements.

IMHO XT is the far better game, there's so much more you can do. Whilst there is no storyline to XT, there are quests, some of which are short stories in their own right.

Essentially XT offers a much richer environment, more sectors, more options and equipment than X-BTF does.

Thanks for the answers.....after browsing this morning I came accross Metonia post about the same thing..doh!

Anyway, played X-tension for several hours last night trying to figure it out. I'll probably just stick with it until X2 comes out.
