Hi all,
Sometimes, if something screwy is happening with your game, it's perhaps worth-while to perform a file verify. In Steam, IIRC, it tells you if anything is wrong and it needed to download stuff. In the GoG Galaxy Client, it will ALWAYS download 134GB of data and give no obvious indication of whether it found anything wrong with the install or not.
Does anyone know how to tell? Perhaps, as I always get the same 134MB downloaded, NOTHING is wrong with my install and I would get more information if any errors were detected.
So, does GoG Galaxy tell me if there are issues, or does it just download that same 134MB regardless. Every time I've done a check, it's done the exact same thing.
Note: I maintain a totally vanilla "base" install of the game - this is the Folder the GoG Galaxy Client knows about. I'll then copy that folder as the basis for the actual game I run, adding in any mods to that copy, keeping the base folder totally clean.
Edit: I did a file compare of the "Live" version of the game that I just verified and the copy and there is a difference. Newly-verified game folder is larger by a few megabytes even though the file count is exactly the same... wonder what went on there? Hmm, seems the various "uninst00n.dat" files are bigger on the freshly-verified copy. Weird.

I think this is a question you'd need to ask GoG. We don't have any input into the file verification process.

My experience with GOG Galaxy is the same, File Verify on any installation never tells you if it actually did repair anything. We just assume it did as necessary unless it gives any installastion error it cant resolve. Which is a PITA, because now I have adopted using it after every game updates just to be sure there were no connectivity / ssd issues during an update. Which means I am downloading the whole thing twice every time.

Fair enough, just hoping someone with more experience with GoG might know the answer.
Do you also see a consistent 134MB (whoops, I said GB in my original post lol) download each time? I mean, I can verify, 134MB downloaded, verify again, 134MB downloaded. I now assume 134MB means everything is fine, I'd assume something was found if it said 135MB.alt3rn1ty wrote: ↑Tue, 14. Depends on the game being updated, so nothing to corroborate really.
