Coordinated suicide (+clarification question)

Post by PV_ »

6.20, no mods.

Issue related to OOS, cuz I merely haven't tested IS.
"Coordinated attack" still throws big ships into Xenon station making them opened for whole station's turret arsenal. This is weird, because regular "Attack" command ALWAYS performs fine, no matter what (lets omit bug with "travel mode vs Attack command" this time we're all know about).
But there is one more important thing. While provided save shows Asgard rushing through the station there is huge difference if ship rushes while map is closed and when opened. If first case, Asgard almost always die and there might even happen 2 battleship wrecks (notification messages) eventually if you wait for longer. But for second case, Asgard almost always escapes and sometimes isn't even running through.

So basically I have a bug report and a question.

Bug report: Asgards rush into Xenon station while executing "Coordinated attack". And if map is closed some of them also dies.
Sector: Scale Plate Green I (you won't miss the battlegroup).
Save file.

Question: can anybody (especially from Egosoft staff side) confirm that there is not just IS and OOS calculations, but actually 3 types: IS, OOS (out of the map), OOS (in map*)?
*(IMPORTANT) Here I mean not just the fact map is open, but player actually observing the issued part of the map. Since tests shown it matters.

I'm asking not just because I'm curious (which is also true), but the reason lay deeper. With positive answer I might start provide more convenient and comprehensive bug reports/save files. Look at this my post and the ego member answer. What if trouble of catching up the bug lay down underneath wrong "tool" used during investigation? And I mean I had to actually not to follow the issued ship on the map, but instead just wait while map is closed.
Question answer is really important part of this thread.

There are two game behavioural conditions when the player is IS - high attention when close enough (when within a few tens of km) to the target asset, and low attention when the player is further away from the asset. The combat and hazard damage calculations (for example) are simplified when in low attention. Remote viewing of the asset may switch attention levels.

OOS is similar to low attention but with even more gameplay simplifications and measures to save processing power.

I thought before that IS is something approximate 50 km radius around player and the rest is OOS. So there are even more calculating types than 3?
In v5.xx I was trying to investigate why my satellites in Buccaneer infested sectors and OOS are constantly getting destroyed no matter how many forces I throw into their protection. Satellite ALWAYS had been destroyed within half an hour. I'd opened the map OOS and put video recording. Returned back in around 2-3 hours, satellite was in place. I'd turned SETA on and went away for another 1 hour. Satellite remained functional afterwards. Okay, I proceeded playing, checked operational area 20 minutes after and... satellite gone, like it happened dozen times before with closed map. That simply can't be a coincidence.
