Hey!
I just bought the game today. I play the current "normal" non-beta steam version, without any mods or DLCs.
Right now, i have about 8 Hours of playtime and just started fiddling with automation, especially scouting and mining.
My miners did around 2 successful mining trips and then started to slow to a crawl. After a little bit of checking out why (lettting the AI fly with me in the ship) and trying to fly autopilot myself, i came across the issue. Autopilot goes into a weird wobbling around drive, roughly in the direction of the target, at about 20-25 m/s.
Here is a video of the issue (piloting myself, the issue is the same when the AI takes over the vessel.)
https://youtu.be/b4wcJBlRGws
When it happened, my FPS dropped to around 20, but bounced back after saving for some reason. The wobbling remained, though.
Tried reloading and restarting, but the issue stays. I have no idea what to do here, but for now autopilot and AI pilots are unusable.
Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks!

We can't generally diagnose a problem from a video. At the top of the forum there is a post entitled "Technical Support Requests - Please read this before posting!" which explains the information you need to provide in order for anyone to have any real chance of being able to help with Tech Support issues, and describes how to provide that information. All the items requested there are relevant in your case, including your DXDiag and vulkaninfo, game version and whether or not it's modified, and a savegame in the situation you're describing.

I'm sorry, i did read that post, but the wiki links all returned a document not found error, so i tried describing it. In Hindsight not my brightest idea.
I'm running Version 6.1 (the regular, non-beta steam build) without any mods)
Here are the dxdiag, the vulkaninfo and the savegame:

Re: Autopilot for Player and AI Ships "wobbling", going VERY slow
The DxDiag looks OK apart from a couple of issues probably not related to your X4 problem:
1. You have several sound devices and drivers on the go at the same time, including generic default Microsoft drivers for your Realtek onboard sound chipset. I would disable whatever you don't use in Device Manager, Sound/Audio Devices (right-click on a device in the listing for a disable/enable pop-up). If you keep the onboard sound then get the latest suitable Realtek HD Audio Codec driver for it.
2. Your Windows Error Reporting is showing multiple serious issues with bid.exe or BID.exe and these should be investigated if it is important to you.
Turning to the issue in X4, some things to check and eliminate:
1. Verify your game installation in case of corruption, and was this game ever modded or edited even if the mods have been disabled now? (Mods and edits remain in saves whatever you do later.)
2. Is it possible that your ship has a deployable (drone/satellite/lasertower) or even a small wreck or rock stuck to it? These can affect steering physics.
3. Check if any controllers or sticks attached are giving a constant output or have a stuck button causing such as roll or strafe - that could be fighting with the in-game steering assist. The best way to eliminate devices is to unplug them one by one and see if/when the issue goes away.
4. If using a controller or joystick that is associated with the issue, check their buttons, calibration and dead-zones. X4 can be more sensitive to control issues than other games.
Good luck.

Hey! Thanks for the input!
The BID thing was a piece of software that crashed a couple of times because of a missing update, that is already fixed now.
I'll check the Realtek driver, never had any issues with sound so i never checked that.
The Game is completely fresh from steam and was never modified. Not even through the workshop. I also already checked file integrety via steam and everything checked out.
I've flown around a couple of sectors and tried in different spots via Autopilot and standing next to the AI taking over the ship and seeing if it works. The second i give the AI any kind of command (even via the "default behaviour") it starts wobbling almost immediately. I assume it starts whenever the AI tries to use the autopilot.
Edit: Flying manually via Traveldrive works, by the way. It's only the autopilot that goes wobbling around.
Weirdly, the issue goes away in a new game, so it seems something happened in that game that started the issue. I do not use (or even have) any input devices other than mouse and keyboard.
The first 4 or 5 hours right after i bought the game worked fine. For me and the AI.
The issue started when i had to go away for a little moment and decided to let the AI mine and explore for a while, while i was away. When i came back around an hour later (while standing in a station) the ships were crawling along and not getting anything done. I could see that they managed to complete 1 mining run, but apparently got brainworms the second time around.
I'm reluctant to start a new game, because if the issue starts up again, I've wasted another couple of hours. I was hoping to find the issue this comes from.
In that save game, i frequently used the autopilot to get around while reading up on some mechanics (and, to be completely honest, watch south park while i waited to arrive)
I may try to reinstall the game completely, but i don't think that will do anything, since it is completely fresh, unmodified and completed the verfitication successfully.
Edit2: I play without any DLCs, by the way.

"The issue started when i had to go away for a little moment and decided to let the AI mine and explore for a while, while i was away." hence my question to inspect the outside of your ship (eg by suit or remote camera) to see if any small foreign object is embedded in your ship and making the steering go awry. Also it is still worth eliminating controllers and sticks and their settings.

I did check for asteroids and other stuff, i ran into that issue once since then, but that isn't the case here.Alan Phipps wrote: ↑Thu, 10. I'll check the controller settings and see if anything is going on there.
I did start a new game yesterday and, for now, the issue hasn't popped up again, which makes me think it is something in that savegame that is borked. I'll still check the settings when i get back home.
