Just bought the game from steam, will not load no matter what I do.

Hi guys,

I just spent over a hundred AUD dollars downloading this game from steam.

The game won't load no matter what I do.
I have followed every instruction online after 5 hours of google searches.
I ave verified game files in steam.
I have done 3 clean installs.
I have ensured my GPU is updated to the latest driver.

But the game still fails to load. I would click play on steam and the game will never launch and the play button shows up again as if the game never even ran.

The no steam hotfix does work, but I want to play it through steam.

The only thing I can think off that may be causing this is that I work from home and the company installed sentinelone on my PC, but if that was the issue then none of my other games would work.

This is incredibly frustrating, I really want to get into the game but nothing is working.

May I ask what OS you are running and if you already tried to disable the cloud functions of the game in steam?
You said that the NoSteam alternative works for you, so it seems to be more a steam issue than a game issue itself.

I am using windows 11, how do i disable the cloud function on steam?

I might give that a try and let you know if it works.

EDIT: I tried disabling the cloud but the same issue persists.

It is almost certainly SentinelOne - see this thread. See if it allows you to exclude folders from checks such as for the X4 gamefiles and saves, etc.

I'm having the same issue. Picked up the game a few days ago and have not been able to play from the steam launcher at all. I've disabled my vpn as suggested and all the other advice given doesnt seem to work.

If you don't have SentinelOne then you don't have the same problem. Start a new thread and provide all the information requested at the top of the forum, otherwise we have very little chance of being able to help you.
