Ore and Ice Miners are mining vacuum

I went there to complete a mission but when I got there...
With the scanner active, I should be seeing a bunch of asteroids.
But there's nothing there that I can see (online_save.xml.gz).

Nope, there's little correlation between what the player can see in person IS, or remotely when OOS, and the calculated resources algorithm that will determine on the map where AI miners will usually go to mine. Trust more in the sector information panel, what you see from your resource probes, and the ability of the AI to find resources. (It was ever pretty much thus.)
