[6.0 HF2] Game no longer launches

1 day before the release of the patch (HF2) I played normally without errors or any problems. After updating the game (HF2), when you try to start the game from the shortcut on the desktop, in the game folder, the game window does not appear from Steam, although it says in Steam that the game is running. The X4.exe process appears in the task manager with a consumption of 78MB of memory and hangs without load on the CPU. I don't use mods, only purchased DLCs. I tried to run it with a non-steam exe file, no result, like reinstalling the game, steam or running it as administrator, compatibility mode, updating video card drivers. Even ran from another PC the result is the same.

Having said that, this thread's OP's graphics card does not meet the minimum specifications for X4 (it has less than 2 GB VRAM and has a year old Nvidia driver & Vulkan for Win7), and they have insufficient free space on their C:/ drive for their current pagefile/swapfile (if that is where it is all located).

As Alan says, your hardware doesn't meet the minimum requirements for the game, so we can't make any guarantees. You may be lucky and find that you can still get the game to run by updating your graphics drivers, or alternatively you could try selecting one of the Legacy versions from the Betas tab in the Steam client if you find that the latest version doesn't work for you.

Hundreds of players are now can not launch the game after the latest update (look at the discussions of the latest update on steam and see for yourself)

Yes, and many of those are Win7 players with perhaps less modern systems. The newer device drivers are having support issues with some of those, and some may anyway struggle to some extent with X4 as it gets more complex with updates and DLCs.

The minimum and recommended system specifications for X4 were always there for good reasons. CBJ gave you some hints to try; have you tried them?

Considering that many of us have pretty good systems and had no real perfomance issues with X4 before the update.... I don't know.

@ THE_TrashMan: The vast majority of vanilla players using many different sorts and qualities of rigs are playing 6.00 HF2 just fine, so that comment is not really relevant to a Tech Sp thread about a known below-spec system not launching the game issue. Jolt is a new Physics system in 6.00 and it may tax systems in different ways to the older versions.

Please let us continue the investigation with the thread OP to see what can be achieved with what they have.
