Boarding Operation results in "Lost" ship (Save)

Post by Scoob »

Hi,

Please examine this saved game.

In it, my ship "Destroyer - Behemoth S. 01 (Marines)" has recently succeeded boarding ship "Miner L - Donia". However, during the operation, the Donia moved to a sector I have not yet discovered. It was in this sector when the mission eventually succeeded.

When in the "Property Owned" view, the boarded Donia is listed, but NOT visible on the map as the entire contents of that sector aren't present as it's currently undiscovered, despite my now having a ship there. I sent a Captain to the Donia, thinking then it might reveal the area around the ship at least, but that's not the case. I can select the Donia in the "Property Owned" list and it appear on the map, but very much lost in space, not in a (known) sector. Ship is unresponsive to any orders and cannot be moved - I did not try Teleporting to it. Try it, you'll see what I mean.

In prior game versions - 5.10 HF3 most recently - I've had boarding targets wander off before mid-operation, though it's very rare. I don't recall them not being able to "reveal" their new location once owned though. I'm going to fly to it manually - that's what I'm on my way to do, when the load the save - and confirm all is well...

Once I'm in-sector with the Donia - even though I'm well out of scanner range - it instantly "reveals" the space around as you'd expect. Ship then responds to previously given orders.

Quite an odd one.
