My assumption so far has been that the planets in x2 will be the same thing as the planets in x-tension. You will be able to see them in the distance, but can never atually get to them, run into them, etc... I was reading the faq that was recently posted and I saw this
Q: Is it 1st person or 3rd person?
A: X2 is played in the first person. You sit in your cockpit or turrets on your chosen ship. You can dock, go within stations even go for a space walk in your suit if you feel the need. An exterior 3rd person view is available. There are times when cut-scenes will play as part of the plot that may bring you to a variety of locations, including planets.
I just wanted to clarify, at the end it says you will go to a variety of places, including planets. Does this mean that you can actually dock/land on planets now. I didn't think x2 was going to have this feature....?
planets?

You can fly to the planets in X and you can circle the planets like in Argon Prime with the 2 planets. Fly around the first one then do the same with the second one. If you should fly into one of them you will blow up as the planets are solid 3D bodies. Sectors are at least 9200 (or is it 9600 km) from the centre, sectors are actually larger but you will get a negative km count once you reach this limit.
I should think this is similar in X2 - The Threat.
I had pictures of the planet circumnavigation on the XBtF section of my web site, recently the place where that part of my web site was on closed down without telling me. I haven't had time yet to rebuild it.
Cheers

From memory, the planets vary between about 1000km and 4000km from the gates, so (assuming no SETA) it would take you anything up to an hour to reach the most distant ones, even in a maxed Pegasus. A maxed Split Scorpion would take around 16 hours to do the same trip!StEaLtH wrote:Does anyone know how long it takes to get to the first planet in Argon Prime in a maxed Peggy?

Thanks for the info, PJ. I'll see how fast I can get to... crash-landing there.pjknibbs wrote:From memory, the planets vary between about 1000km and 4000km from the gates, so (assuming no SETA) it would take you anything up to an hour to reach the most distant ones, even in a maxed Pegasus. FYI, I didn't even think about flying a Scorpion *shudders*
