'Freight scan' mission in corporate sectors - answered

Post by Hwitvlf »

Very minor, but I'll mention in case it's an easy fix.

Got offered a scan cargo mission in the NMMC sector (PTNI Headquarters Beta) and a the same thing happened in the Atreus HQ sector; I scanned several freighters with cargo, but the mission failed saying I hadn't scanned any ships. Guessing the corporate faction sectors aren't recognized properly by this mission.

Edit: Not bug. I just misunderstood the mission text.

To be clear; were you scanning freighters in Pirate (Border) sectors, or in the Corp sectors themselves? I completed a few missions of this scan-pirate type without issue, though not offered by Corps.

Note that in the screenshot they actually request you to go into pirate sectors. So if you took that one in PTNI and scanned there you were in the wrong sector.
The scanning missions actually have multiple variants that can easily be mixed up: Scan in current sector, scan in Border/core sectors of mission giver faction, any sector of mission giver faction or the above scan in pirate sectors

Okay, I understand the mission brief now. I found it confusing because you're scanning freight for piracy so I thought "pirates" in the mission briefing referred to the Teladi's own faction- as in 'our police have been pulled back so you take up the slack by scanning cargo in the adjoining sectors'.

Still, seems weird for a Teladi to scan pirate sectors for freight because 'pirate police' have been pulled back to combat 'human-trafficking'. Thanks for explaining :)
