Separate conjoined asteroids?

Post by -GoldenEye- »

Hi,

is there a reliable way to separate twin-astros in X3:FL?
I found some of these on few occasions and building a mine + pulling them apart does not always result in the survival of both.
You cannot use the tractor-beam on astros without mine.

Also the astros in the Hyper Access Point - sectors have the size of M3 and are available for mine-building ... and ofc they end up as conjoined twins ... with one mini-astro hiding in the new, overridden model of the placed mine for extra explosive fun
(Mines have their own model + astro model which overrides the mini-astro ones)

Edit: some ships which can equip the tractor-beam laser cannot use it like the Argon Enhanced Mercury :!:

Someone said that 'utility weapons' are a shared type which can equip the mobile drilling system, repair laser and tractor beam, so ships which were only meant to use mining lasers could equip the tractor, but they didn't have enough laser energy fire it.

Thankfully it isn't an issue anymore. Just hire a Hephaistos complex builder, and mines will be moved OOS to wherever you want.

That is probably what I read about: some building software components you can buy from the Teladi in some corporation-HQ?
So I need to buy this software, equip on my TL and use some commands to move stuff OOS? Can it build OOS?

With the mk3 it could build preplanned complexes out of sector, also moving mines to the location of your planned complex. However using your own TL is currently bugged and they get stuck when trying to build any mines.
Dropping a station from your cargo hold or adding stuff to a complex still requires you to be in sector

Does it need to be a complex straight away or can I simply let a mine (complex with just a mine) be built and choose the location? Can the complex be dismantled into its compartments, ie. self-destruction of the complex centre like in X3:AP?

Didnt try to place only single stations like that.
You can remove stations from a complex later. Even without destroying the whole complex: You have the option to remove a specific station from the complex.

Empire Management --> Complex Planner --> plan a complex, and you can hire a NPC company from that menu for a fee. So no more bother with towing mines.

You can put mines on those? Will they expand to normal size?

Absolutely when they are available for building.
Apparently this is not actually a bug because those sizes are considered to be randomised. (Therefore a fixing patch would be difficult to apply.)
The mini size is a bug patched in 1.2.
