Where did you move your HQ to?

Post by Da-V-Man »

I am currently thinking of where to move my HQ to, now that I have to ability to do so. I'm curious where others have moved their HQ to, and if the Xenon bug them a lot there.
These days I mainly just talk to plants and dogs,
all human contact seems painful, risky, odd,
so I stay acting god in my own X-Universe!

I moved it to Seizwell in Teladi space. I am not bothered by Xenon or any other race.

Mine is in Ceo's Sprite. A well defended sector with a military base and a big shipyard. With the new dynamic relationships system I recommend you build your HQ in either Teladi space (since they are not going to suddenly turn on you) or in unknown/unclaimed sectors.

As a Boron it had to be in Boron space. I also like to use the Xenon Hub on border systems, so in the best case two people enjoy the benefits.

So the Xenon Hub connects Atreus' Clouds with The Hole, and the other two gates are in the southwest (BOR-PAR border Barren Shores East) and the centre (BOR-TEL border south of Legend's Home)

The HQ in Atreus' Clouds is in the north east of the sector, so usually the few Pirates and Xenons are busy elsewhere. The only downside there is the lack of good asteroids in the adjacent Boron sectors for my Boron stations. The big plus are great cheap BoFu imports from the Great Reef area for the same Boron stations.

If I was going Boron I would probably go with one of the new sectors down in the South East.

I can defiantly see the argument for Teladi as long as you aren't interested in being a Yaki pirate but they don't have many new sectors maybe mines of fortune?

Still haven't moved mine so interested in others thoughts on these and more.

I wouldn't put the HQ there. It's a dangerous zone :P

The first HSAP I found was in Nathan's Voyage. It gave me access to Nathan's Voyage Beta - reasonably central location and a single entrance to defend...and it is chock full of massive ore and silicon asteroids. I'm getting ready to move my HQ there. First order of priority after that is to set up a lasertower factory and start cranking out some defenses.

I still don‘t get it. You are talking about mines of fortune or something else?

What use has a TOA? With the HSAP point connected, I can quietly settle the sectors hidden behind it by myself. With a TOA, all I will get is competition.

Only the ship you control can go though a HSAP, since the interplantery drive is in your player inventory which you need to go though a HSAP. Building the TOA allows other ships to go in, or do what I did and use the HUB and connect between X beta and Sanctuary of Darkness.

If you already settled in those 2 sectors you don't want to build any TOAs in your game. It will eventually trigger something that might make you want to move from there.

Ok I get it, I‘ll be able to move out quickly. For now it‘s still home sweet home.

It‘s true that only the player ship can actively move through the HSAP. Every ship with a Jumpdrive can be ordered to jump to me, using the gate between the two sectors. That‘s how I get my fleet in and out. Sometimes I can order a ship to jump in and out on it‘s own, but not always. I don‘t understand why. At least, the „jump to me“ order always worked both ways.

This is alright... but you'll definitely need to build a significant defence. At least a destroyer and/or a few frigates. God help you if you've moved to the Southern sector...

Just to update, I moved my PHQ into Blue Profit and moved a hub gate to between it and Ceo's Sprite. No problems so far.

If you need to know before you get to it:

Building a third TOA causes the Boron to claim Depths of Silence beta, and the Xenon to overwhelmingly claim Sanctuary of Darkness (it's probably on par in security as Xenon Sector 472)

What triggers the Kha'ak though? I've built TOAs on all available HSAPs, Pirates claimed the Maelstrom Beta (no TOA yet) but no activity in the Unknown enemy sector.
