Upgrading stations, worth it?

Haven't looked at production values for XL and XXL stations, so don't know if its profitable to upgrade stations or if one should rather build new ones.

Looking at prices it seems to me that it's only worth it to upgrade solar power plants, with the large cost for building the upgrade kits themselves it's cheaper to build a solar power plant M and upgrade to L, then to XL, rather than building a XL from the get go. This is for teladi solar power plants when I'm at max reputation with them though, so prices may differ I guess.

Anyone else looked at station upgrading? What do you think is most cost efficient?

I'd assume it's especially helpful once you built complexes, as you can upgrade stations in-place
