What's lacking in Xt is a floating padlock view on my target. I would like to have a small window that locks on my target, giving me a view of the target FROM MY SHIP (and not from an external camera). That is more realistic for combat and other tasks. In real life dogfight, that padlock view is exactly what the pilot will get.
I am surprised that nobody asked for it here (well I was away for too long, it may have been asked here, but I don't think we emphasize it enough).
Will we have a padlock view in X2?

I agree 100% with you, Paul Knibbs disagrees
.
Padlock view should be in the game, it worked superbly in X-Wing Alliance, I-War and countless other (ermm almost ALL flight sims) the perception of speed in X-BTF or X-T and most probably the same is true of X2 is no faster or more furious than other flight/space games I've played wich feature this ermm feature.
if anthing the hecktic speeds of play become more manageabe with padlock view,
by what I remember there was some discusion at the X-Con about padlock view, some strongly wanted it some didn't (why someone would strongly not want it is beyond me as if you don't want to use it keep your finger of the padlock key,,,)
I personaly find that padlock feature gives a better sence of your surrounding and also as a bonus like in X-Wing A, the A-Wings open caopy gavce it another substantial dogfighting edge (as it should) whereas the badly designed Y wing with its very closed cockpit felt very clostraphobic and clumsy, in X games and other games that don't allow for padlock view the cockpit design is nothing more than eye candy and has NO tactical or practical advantages or disadvatages.
considering aircraft (fighter aircraft) designers have always spent a great deal of time possitionaing the cockpit in the best possible place to give allround visability, it is a shame for a game to arroigantly ignore this and effectively leave the player with a 2D interface (ie you look forward only no looking around (X admitedly does have the look around feature wich is a curse really as the back of my helmet has a very powerful elastic attached to the head restraint
.. but as said Padlock would definately be nice).

Actually, I disagree. I hate padlock view (not that my opinion would have any effect on getting one or not), but I find it a pain in the butt.rusti_swordz wrote:I agree Avis.
That said, maybe that's why Avis kicked my ass all over London when we played Combat Sim a couple of times a while ago

I guess it would be *nice* to have it for peeps that want to use it, but if it was in, I wouldn't use it.

Rewind ?
Mentioned this before, those driving games like Gran turismo etc have a replay button that enables you to study the last race you completed.
Would this work in the X series, i was thinking about prior to a combat situation if there was a replay or record button you could press then view the battle afterwards.

Target saving
One more feature that is very useful, is the ability to save targets. Also if the padlock view has its own target (different than the main target), that would be very useful, for say, defense missions, where you have to remember at all time where the ship you want to defend is. Every time I am offered the mission to defend a transporter in Xt, I wish I have the recall target feature.

IIRC I got you twice, you got me six times. But once was when you said "SHOOT ME, SHOOT ME!" 'cos you had run out of ammo (can't aim for S*** eh?) and wanted a restart

Anyway, was fun

Cheers,

Hi. Did anybody ever play a game quite a few years ago called Star Glider? The first game. Because on that, you had the ability to control the missiles that you fired in terms of their direction by using that remoat camera. That would be good in X2, firing off missiles that you had the ability to physically tirect if you chose to.
