Trying to figure out how to edit something which was added

Topic is a little vague but basically I want to do this:

<replace sel="//characters/character[@id='fighter_split_random']/category"><category tags="[crew, officer, pilot, aipilot, fighterpilot, commander, masstraffic, watchdog, regular]" faction="[split, freesplit, fallensplit, court]" race="split"/></replace>

but I am getting this:

[=ERROR=] 0.00 No matching node for path '//characters/character[@id='fighter_split_random']/category'

And it is most likely because these split characters were added. So how to I edit something which was added

so what I mean is in split DLC in characters.xml in libraries:

so how would I edit this then?

It'll work if you set a dependency on the mod or make your folder named after ego (alphabetically)

I see, I did put a dependency but that didn't work. I will try the naming scheme

Changing the name worked, but the dependency doesn't work for some reason.
