Is it possible to remove say....50% of the ships running around out there? and if so how much effect would it have on the economics? also would it smooth the game out for those on slower cpu/video cards?? maybe have a little routine ask the user what cpu "mhz, ghz" and then adjust ai vehicles.

every ship you see has a purpose. removing half of them would mean things in the universe were'nt getting done. The economy would probably grind to a halt as factories weren't recieving enough goods to produce anything

In any case, if you did script out 50% of the ships, it's quite easy to do, they would just be replaced by routines that are beyond the control of scripting

you'd have to edit the map itself..
you might want to remove some combat ships? =) who cares about khaak? :P
