I have an efficient and simple idea to end all of this madness - Someone simply write a script to change all the mantas back after applying 1.4! This way those of us that want the manta to change can still have it, and those that want to pack Ore in their buses can still do so.

Good idea, but somebody got to do it. Anyhow I've a "wait and see" attitude towards 1.4.

Yeah, "wait and see" is the best approach, but I'm sure that some accomplished scripter out there could whip something out pretty quickly. Hell, I'D do it if I knew how to script - just to stop the bitching!

Anyway, I might just pop in at the scripting forum and suggest something like this. Or maybe one of the whiners can do it?

Its actually been suggested over and over again ever since the Manta fuss started. But it still hasn't stopped any arguments, sadly.

Mark my words there will be a manta-fix script released in under an hour of 1.4 being released. Just like in the aftermath of the 'modified tag' whinefest following 1.3's arrival.

IT is so easy to change the mantas back to normal...u just have to change some things in the Tships file.
Even i can do it (14 year old) :lol:

Considering there is only one ship to alter (Manta) and only one line in the TShips to alter, and only one variable (Cargo size) to alter, I'm betting I could post a mod for this under 10 minutes after downloading the patch.


Now, who's going to send me some swag?

am I alone in using transporter craft to do my transporting? I can't stand the TPs, they're too small and they all look identical - it's like they've taken a bunch of X-BTF/XT Ganymedes and "riced" them. the split one (the only one I own) has useful weaponry and a decent turn of speed, making it handy for trading runs in dangerous sectors, but even that looks like it's just landed onto another ship and been welded in place!

therefore I'd not noticed there'd been any changes - however, as has been said, it's not like there's much to do to change it back.

Personaly I dont use the manta all that much although its got space and is fast I perfer raw cargohold size of the Teladi and Boron TSs

Speed is good but the more u haul the more u make!

They are however very usefull to keep stocks up of items in stations as they have quick trip. especialy if supplies are a few sectors away

I more a mobile miner and the manta is to big especialy in groups and requires constant empting. (preferance Teladi TS or Argon Merc)

SO they gona nerf the TP class of ship

Question are they gona give us a good reason to even have it in the game after this. I mean for a pasanger transport there aint alot of pasangers around. Even BBS missions you only carring 1 at a time (except for tours)

SO what we gona get. I say we get a Pasangers ware at the Trading docks and station to make it worth while to actualy own a TP class!

Otherwise It just a waist of Memory space cause no one gona use it.

it'd be nice if there were some NPC ones to go and harrass, or to compete with for customers... and a LOT more missions for them

when I first started the game, there were missions for "trips of a lifetime" every other time I docked... until I could actually afford a TP, that is!

I often though If writing a script to have some TPs with pasangers as cargo go between random stations. Taken a back seat though untill i see what 1.4 is like.

I mean the only NPC owned TPs Ive are at trading docks and they just sit there gathering dust

Fortunently your not alone, I too only one one TP. I voted no to a fix because I hate it when people exploit the game... I know it's your game to exploit but I will still look down on you for it. And I know there's now way to stop they TP users from still using them (wish I could so bad :twisted: )... but hopefully the TS will be cahnged enough that it outdoes any TP, then the TP users will get there punishment having to manually replace every one of there TP's :twisted: . And on that note why not write a script that replaces all the players TP's with equivilent TS's?
