Which weapon mods are best
for each weapon? I have just been using slasher for everything except of course digger for mining. I figure some of these mods have to be better.

It all depends on the weapon configuration of the ship you are "playing" with. Improve on it's weaknesses or prepare it for a specific role...

Slasher isn't the best on main weapons as it increases cooldown by a lot and it hurts especially in critical combat situations. It's fine for quick bursts but fails when you need sustained dps.
I put that on turrets only usually.

Slasher for turrets, pulse main guns, and thermal disintegrator main guns . Turrets are not affected by cooling and pulse/thermal heat build up is so low that it doesn't cause any problems. For any other weapon, exceptional annihilator.

My favourites are Expediter (extra range) & Annihilator (damage & rate of fire). Tend to reserve those for my destroyers, particularly in my current game - standard range of Split main guns & L Plasma leaves a lot to be desired, with Expediters they're almost reasonable. My other ships tend to only get lower tier mods - I like Slasher for turrets, Cowboy for missile launchers & Benguela for main guns. My favourite guns (e.g. Tau) tend to be high damage but overheat very quickly. Benguela provides a significant boost to cooling at a cost of slightly reduced damage. However can also greatly improve rate of fire, which easily offsets the damage nerf.
