I've got an idea to further ruin your business and take away more of your hard earned credits. Interested? Then read on.
The idea: Ship crews consume food and medicine, just like stations. So you have to carry them in all of your ships. Not too much that you would need hundreds of production modules just to support your fleet, but enough that you actually care about it. Because if food and medicine run out, the crew slowly starts to die and just vanishes. What do you think about that?
My motivation: I find it odd that Egosoft differentiates between the workforce of a station and ship crew. I realize it's an entirely different system as station workforce are just mere numbers without names and skills, but somehow they consume food and medicine like real lifeforms while ship crews which even have names and skills don't.
I don't know how much of a hassle it would be to implement this because different crew races consume different types of food. And i think it would be necessary to automate the supply somehow, either by teleporting the stuff (when the research is done) or by having all ships dock at (preferably your) stations or their carriers to fill up again, because otherwise it might be too much micro management, especially if you don't produce the wares yourself yet. Maybe some modder has some free time to spare and likes the idea. If not, then not, but i thought i'd just throw the idea in and see what happens.
Off-topic: I just like mods in general which add more immersion to the game, for example "Landlord" which makes me pay taxes for my stations in sectors owned by other factions or has me receive taxes for stations of others or "Getting Paid" which makes crew cost salary. I would appreciate it if i'd lose even more money.
Kind regards
