Question about modding menus...

Post by Chancey_Dice »

I'm wondering if it would be possible to add commands to the context menus that already exist in the game in other menus.

Example: When you're in the boarding screen, it gives you the options for what your boarding ships will do during the boarding process, attack engines, attack turrets, keep distance, etc. What I would like to do is add those behaviors to the attack context menu, so instead of just seeing attack, attack several, etc. you would have the additional options to command your fleet ships to "attack turrets," or "attack engines."

I know it's possible to assign those tasks to the ai controlled ships, just not sure why it's not available in the regular menus, or how to go about adding them.

Another thing I would like is to either be able to deploy multiple mines with one click, or better still have an interface like the one used to build stations to set mine placement. Big green cube and drag and drop mines for placement within the cube. Better still, you could select the type and number of mines, and maybe choose from several "patterns" of placement, field, cube, sphere, etc. Perhaps x, y, and z for the number of mines, so [2] z [10] x [10] y would create a field of 10 x 10 x 2 deep field of mines, the spacing of the mines could either be default, or for a given value.

I'm just tossing some ideas around, and not sure what's possible to mod given the tools available.

I don't know enough about modding to do these myself, nor do I know where to look for the codes involved. They seem doable, but my coding experience is limited to websites
