How can I make selling ships to NPCs less profitable?

Post by Max Bain »

I would like to lower the income by selling ships to the NPCs. Is there an easy way to do this?

I built my first S/M wharf and from one moment to the other I dont need to think about money anymore. This feels too good in my opinion.

Edit: I know I can lower the selling price, but then my wharf will be flooded with orders and I also could always just increase the price up again when I need more cash. So optimal would be that the price would be fixed at minimum (only for ships) and NPCs would place orders as if it would be at 100% (default price).

What about if blueprints were 'licenses', and everytime you use a blueprint you have to pay a tax to the owner/designer (optional at ship creation screen "Pay license fee"). If you dont pay it, rep loss.
Kinda makes sense no?

In the wares.xml, increase the cost of ship parts (hull parts, engine parts, etc.) That should solve your issue, unless you're acquiring the parts yourself, in which case you'd simply have to decrease the price of the ships themselves, which would also make them cheaper for you unfortunately.

reduce markup slider to 5% max since markup , include base price value + profits

I dont think that this would help. I produce the parts myself so the costs for the components doesnt matter.
As you said, decreasing wont work also because then the ship prices would be way to cheap for myself :(

In which file can I do this and whats the exact parameter name? I want to do it in a mod so I wont be able to change it on the fly if I am low on cash or so.
