VANILLA [3.10SV] FRF Split Start, ENG
This is a list of weapons that I've gathered need a rework based on my own experiences and of those in the official Egosoft Dicord. Some of these weapons are actually so bad that its affecting the overall game balance and reasons are given below;
Beams: lets start with the elephant in the room, okay so these have been broken all throughout BETA i really expected a fix or something before stable release since its way so commonly known in the discord they were broken, but if you want something reported right you better just do it yourself.
So these weapons seem to have be missing a 0 in their DPS value or something because they do absolutely no damage unless you have about 50 of them shooting something and this is literally breaking the game because Beams are thought of by AI to be one of the best weapons in the game( Do to the fact that when you press high preset it usually gives you beams or flak) so AI will equipped almost EVERYTHING with these weapons that do no damage at all, this leads to any faction using normal weapons to steamroll stations and ships using beams ( and most do). This is especially true with Xenon as they melt any station they come into contact with little resistance. Khaak seem to beusing a version of the beam as well because they also do ZERO damage and you can kill them very easily compared to how they used to be. If there is one thing in this report that needs to be fixed its this weapon right here. At the very least make factions not use it and make it a decent point defense weapon, High range but low DPS just enough to take out some missiles.
Neutron Gatlings: These new weapons are almost useless, even the M mk2 version barely licks shields of sub targets and the spread is so bad that you'll be hitting about 5% of the rounds you shot at anything about 1km and even under 1km its about 10-20%. This weapon needs a narrow spread enough that it can get more shots on targets around 1km but not so tight that its almost like a laser beam, it should still miss a little but do more like a vulcan 20mm spread than this current one. With a little more damage per shot and a decent decrease to spread this weapon would be a good contender for one of the best in the game, and its price reflects that but as of now it is the worse split weapon even worse than the lances.
Lances: I do not even know what the point of this weapon is, it seems to be decent range for fixed but becomes gimballed at 1km? whatever it is the weapon has one clear thing, it does barely any more damage than the currently broken beams. This is one of the most expensive fighter weapons yet it is useless and barely does any damage even if you have 3 of them. And the Faction that is supposed to be superior to all others gets the exclusively but these weapons are barely superior to beams. If they are gonna be super short range beams then they need to do a lot more DPS to be worth the money cause as it stands this weapons is not worth it if it was free. Buff the hull and shield damage or at least buff the shield damage more so Split can have a more anti shield weapon cause this weapon does not damage either.
Dumbfire Turrets: These weapons could be SO AMAZING if it wasnt for one fatal flaw. They do not LEAD ANYTHING! no matter what it is these turrets will not lead at all so every dumbfire round is going to undershoot even the slowest moving K which makes them USELESS against everything that is not a station when you are standing completely still. There is so much variety in the rounds and they make great station defense, this is a weapon id like to use more on my ships too so please just allow the turret to lead targets and make the dumbfire project FASTER they are dumbfire rounds that go as slow as torps! it makes no sense in any other game dumbfire has the best velocity since it doesnt track its more like a rocket pod, and please for the love of god add some distinction to the M and L turrets other than ammo cap, allow the L dumbfires to shoot a Volley of 2-4 missiles every cool down cause its better to just take more medium launchers than 1 L, makes no sense please fix.
We are finally getting a lot more weapons in this game but some of the older ones have been a little negleted and that kills the variety if only a handful of the weapons are good, there is really no point into using anything else especially if its more expensive. With these changes the variety will be back for most weapons and it will be a hard choice between them. Id really like to see some more L and M turreted Versions of existing guns like the gatling and blast mortars since turrets do not have anywhere near the Variety S weapons have and some people do not even know exist, but thats another topic.
