[3.10SV] Displace thyself?

Post by radcapricorn »

While preparing data for another report, I've encountered something bizarre. Above the crosshairs there's writing in blue. That's my player character's name. It appeared as if my character was actually in the world, some distance away from the ship, judging by parallax as I moved (not that I could see a character in that direction, just the name).

How it happened:
- I ordered a destroyer to dock at an Eq. Dock, and teleported to it shortly after
- A little bit after teleporting (just enough for me to walk to the bridge proper), it appeared as if the destroyer was speeding up, but then suddenly it stopped and "jumped" a little bit backward and to the left of where it was (i.e. view of the station ouside shifted away and to the right)
- Destroyer started moving again
- I saved the game, apparently at about the same time as the destroyer started charging up its travel drive (since the sound effect doesn't pause during a save, I've listened through most of it)
- After save was done, and the associated "jump" in physics, of which I posted several times before, I suddenly saw my player name, appearing as if somewhere "out there"
