Took on a mission for the Teladi to rescue one of their ships that went and got itself caught in a minefield. this ain't the first time I've had to haul one of their ships out of a minefield, and I suspect it won't be the last. They may want to rethink some safety procedures here. Crew skittered to safety, but whaddaya know, they want their ship back anyway. I'm making good credit on this one, so I saddle up and fly off to the co-ordinates they provided. As soon as the ship comes to a halt, I can see we got a little problem here. Not the mines, no. That's easy peasy. Not the ship - it's sitting there pretty, waiting for a firm hand to guide it home. Nope. Its the three K class Xenos mauling the Smart Chip Factory only 30K away. Oh boy.
I ain't a coward, but I sure ain't suicidal. My current ride is just a little Nova, and it's not ready for the big playground yet. But a sweet payday is a sweet payday, and hell, the ship is 'right there'. So to hell with it. The Xenos are focused on the station right? I'll get in, get out ride this baby home, and none will be the wiser. And it all goes smoother that a spacesuit ride down the space highway. Next thing you know, I'm at the helm of my temporary new ship and ready to bring her home to her momma.
To the Smart Chip Factory. The one 30Km away. The one that's not there anymore.
Turns out, while I was hacking my way onto the ship, the Xenos spread that space station over half of the sector. All the K ships are dead too, thanks to a late response by the local constabulary. But I've got no one to return this here ship to.
30 minutes remaining until they consider this baby stolen property. I keep trying to fly the straight and narrow, but the universe seems to have other plans for me, that's a fact.
The bug here I think is that with no docking module on the station anymore, the quest should have marked the return of the ship to a new destination, or at least failed it. Still - gave me a funny story.
