Ship Modes can be used in a better way

I see so many ship modes, but unfortunately most players will end up using like 1% of them.

So my question is why don't you introduce mods as equipments?

NPC ships will be equipped with green modes, rarely some are equipped with higher tier modes.

To complement it, can introduce mods blueprints and research related to modes. However make it in a way where blueprint can either be acquired by killing enemies (acquire for example X amount of mod and send them to hq to research blueprint) high profile mods can only be acquired via war and other faction related missions.

Once acquired the blueprint, the player can equip the mods to its produced ships (but require extra resources).

It would be a great addition for 4.0.

"Ship Modes" are things like Long Range Scan and SETA.

"Mods" or "Modifications" is what you are talking about. Just to clarify.


It'd be nice to have modified enemies, yeah. They would make nice occasional stronger threats, or faction flagships, that sort of thing.

A total aside, and a question I've never found the answer for. - Ship mods... I've never worked out how to 'create' other than basic modifications. - I dunno where to get all the advanced gubbins to make higher tier modifications. :(

But I like the idea of simplifying the application of ship modifications, just as I feel many are asking Egosoft to do with Seminars.

They are mission rewards. The easiest source is ventures, ventures feed you Exceptional mods for some reason.

Argh, I hadn't been doing missions until yesterday, and I don't do ventures. - Thanks for the explanation. :)

Why? They also a good source of passive income, got 4 Millions credits from the 64h mission.The Ventures run in real time so that 4 million I “earned” without even playing the game :D
