Flight Assist off makes engines... louder?

One way I like to get around in throw on Seta and turn off Flight Assist then burst around using Booster. FA doesn't slow me down as much so the boost keep me at higher speeds. Takes longer than Travel Drive, but lets the Empire and other ships progress a bit faster at their stuff - my things usually aren't time sensitive.

Only thing - somehow turning off all the engines makes them all absurdly loud, obnoxiously even.

Is this intentional?
