Suggestion: Mission specialisation

Post by Green_Twenty »

I have just come back to the game for 3.0 and enjoying focusing more on missions than trading this time.

However, they can be hard to find, and it's a complete lottery as to what type you get.

Solution? Specialisations. I propose that doing certain mission types gains you reputation in that field, granting access to more and harder missions of that type.
After a while of building reputation, perhaps you then gain access to a message board in stations with a list of missions of that type across the nearest sectors.
This way you could build a reputation as a repairman, taxi, local security, infiltrator...

So, for example, if you enjoy being a space taxi (like I do) and focus on transporting people, you gain more and harder requests (perhaps spawning enemies or travelling further etc). Then eventually I could land on a station in Argon Prime (say) and access the full list of taxi missions for Argon space. The hardest missions could make some serious money, while easy local missions are left as they are.

Note: the faction missions (such as war stuff) I don't have a problem with. It's the other, independent missions that I'd like to see updated.
