Crew Training in 3.0

Hi

Does anybody know what is the best way to train a crew in 3.0? :?

What I need is a 3 star Pilot but it seems it will take ages, I have tried buying ships (but I get only 1 star max), automining (it feels like it will take a real time year to level up), manual trading (also no change in skills after successful trades), seminars (I was able to find ones only training up to 2 stars)...

Have a single scout and manually put down explore commands in a hex pattern to fully explore every single safe sector in the game. Then have it update trade deals on every single safe sector in the game.
About 30 hours of play time later and you will almost have your first 3-star pilot.....at least that is what my highest skilled pilot did. Maybe a few more hours and he will be able to do the first level of autotrading.


You should install a mod to fix the crew-skill growth. The current system in vanilla just doesn't really work.

I just posted this a moment a ago in a different thread, but
If you have a couple of million to spare, try put a pilot in a construction ship, and having him build a station with nothing but a hundred connection structs, then tear it down and build it again over and over as needed to level him up. Probably the fastest way to go. You can maybe get your 3-star pilot in about 2 hours?

Have sector miners fully stocked with Service Crew. That Service Crew levels up at a good pace. When they reach 3 or 4 stars (as Service Crew, which favors Engineering and Morale), suffer the whole reassignment and boosting piloting with seminars UI nightmare.
