[3.0SV] Cannot build S/M Venture

Simply adding the module shows it green, no matter how I rotate it. But, as soon as I attach it to the Venture Platform, it becomes red.

Save for verifying. The Venture Platform is already built at the HQ, on the SE connection. Try attaching the S/M Venture to it.

One player says the S/M module will only attach to the right side of the V Platform.

Obviously you have be logged in to online features (logging out and in again or stopping and restarting the game seems to help with logging recognition issues following version updates apparently).

Ahem, which one is the "right" side? I've attached my Venture Platform to the SE connector on the HQ, obviously rotated it to do so. Should I deconstruct it, add new one, remember which side is "right" when adding and rotate it so that it's the one facing outside? That's... not what I'd like to be doing with my time.

If I remember right it was always the the right of the time you open the building screen.

Heh, I guess the 'right' side would be the opposite to the 'wrong' side where it won't attach. I don't know the details, I just look for clues in older posts; I don't write them. :wink:

Well before now I've always built them also to the right, i.e. eastward. So dock at the south node, and to the right of it the Venture Platform and the S/M Venture. And it always worked. But I didn't expect it the direction to matter. I guess next time I'm feeling bored I'll try rebuilding it, but still, it should "just work" no matter which node you're attaching to.

Thing is, we don't have any orientation indication in the planner. Not for station itself (so hard to tell which way it'd be oriented wrt sector), nor for individual pieces. So if I indeed rotated the thing 180 degrees, and it's symmetrical, I wouldn't know if I'm using the "right" right node.

Ok, after retrying the issue is clearer now. The "right" connection can't actually be misplaced, as that's the only one the module would connect to anyway. The problem here is that the S/M Venture module refuses to be built within a certain invisible box around the HQ. The SE connection node falls within that box, so attempting to place the module there makes it red. However, if the Venture Platform + S/M Venture are connected outside that box, then the whole thing can be attached to the HQ structure, at least in planner.

Ah, implying that the game 'thinks' the venture ships would foul the station zone on departure or entry. Similar to the issues with placing a T 3 dock pier on the PHQ perhaps.

Yeah but the docking corridor visualised for that module isn't actually intersecting anything. Simply moving the module to a certain position makes it red.
