My second miner was ordered to Sector Automine silicon at Grand Exchange III. It's order is set as such also and was in this sector as had it orders to drop the satelite & resource probe at the station and nearby asteroid field.
However the miner refuses to mind just few meters from the station and goes all way to Grand Exchange IV.
The other miner on Grand Exchange I behaves as expected, mining on the nearby asteroid belt and selling to it's station nearby.

One thing. On a previous game using 3.0 beta, had observed that a miner set to do Sector Automining on Grand Exchange IV, was going to mine on Grand Exchange III. I believe reported it 4+ months ago.
So maybe the Sector IDs the game uses to set the coordinates for mining are wrong for those 2 sectors?

Re: 3.0 Miner pathfinding issue
Remember that automining uses the volumes of resource densities as pre-set on the map (as shown by resource probes) and not the observed 'asteroid belts'. Asteroids are only broken and mined by miners and mining drones if the player is nearby or watching the asteroid remotely, otherwise miners just fill up from resource volumes when unobserved. It may well be that there are better known resource densities elsewhere and still within the range of your miner pilots/captains.

I have set Sector Automine for Grand Exchange III. Same as the other miner Sector Automine for Grand Exchange I.Alan Phipps wrote: ↑Fri, 3. As seen from the save, (image attached bellow) the GE 1 field the miner is using has 4.4km3 Silicon. The one in GE 3 has 15km3. Dropped a probe (last save) to the field the second miner is using and is 17km3 silicon since it's there.

However if your argument was correct, then the first miner should be using the same 17km3 field in GE 4, but doesn't. It sticks to the order to mine at GE1.
Same applies to mining on systems like Lasting Vengeance & Cardinal's Regress. The miners set on each one to do Sector automining do not go to the next sector to mine. (that from my last campaing).
This issue occurs on Grand Exchange III & IV only, because I have reported that a miner on IV with Sector Automine, it will go and mine on III (outside the border map also). If needed I will dig the archived saves.

Re: 3.0 Miner pathfinding issue
My miners do similar things.
I have one setup to Sector Mine Silicon in Grand Exchange I.
It went somehow to Grand Exchange III and was suddenly searching for stuff to mine and sat there a while.
I had to move it back to GE I and then remove the "Fly and Wait" order to let it use it's default behaviour Auto Sector Mine in GE I.
All my miners need regular supervision as well.
I have also 3 in Argon Prime (2x Ore and 1x Silicon) and they all can sell there.
But after a while of successfull mining, they just fly around where they want but don't mine at all.
The behaviour tab says they're mining, but their cargohold is empty.
They also fly in the opposite direction to where the line points where they should be mining.
I have to delete their current order and let them use their default behaviour.
Then they pick a new spot to mine and off they go, mining for a few trips until they're stuck again.

Re: 3.0 Miner pathfinding issue
Unless your pilot is 5 stars how do you know it's a bug?
I have a miner mining in black hole sun in an argon courier. I am on the ship with him. He is 1 and 1/3 stars. In 21 minutes he's only filled up 1/10 of the small cargo hold. I assume this is normal?
UPDATE: Well this is somewhat disappointing. I go to another sector in my second ship, leave the miner in the first sector doing the exact same thing he was before, and he is able to mine in UNDER 3 minutes and fill up his entire hull. That's a factor difference of over 10x from when you near the npc pilot versus when you are not near him. That doesn't seem very realistic. Are there plans to fix this issue?

Yes, I described that observed versus unobserved behaviour in my post above. It is working as intended. Think more of the observed mining behaviour as being something to watch for immersion and enjoyment.

Alright. I've been playing for almost 10 hours this session and everything is working exactly as intended then. I appreciate the response. The game is indeed very immersive.Alan Phipps wrote: ↑Wed, 8. Apr 20, 10:47 Yes, I described that observed versus unobserved behaviour in my post above. It is working as intended.
