Trade reputation, when NPC ships trade with your station?

So I am setting up trade stations in the Split territories to get more trade reputation. Does any know if reputation increase occurs only when your owned ship trade at NPC faction stations? or does it also increase when NPC faction ships trade at your owned stations? If it's the latter case, I probably won't assign any trade ships to the stations, and just set up some buy and sell orders at the stations and leave them alone.

I think it's only when you or your NPC ship sell to other faction station.
