Just wanted to say thank you for the new Plot missions!

Post by Shehriazad »

I haven't played them all yet but what I've seen so far is not only solid... it's better than the Boron PHQ Quest.
Sure there are some minor bugs and derps...but I trust that those will disappear.

Just felt like I had to share since I see a lot of negative/whiny stuff going on and I definitely don't want the vocal minority to be the only voice here. Keep on going strong Egosoft! I know it took a bit long to get this ball going, but if updates and DLC in the future continue this trend...the game has some glorious days ahead and I can finally recommend it to friends without a second thought!

I haven't picked up those missions yet, which may be because my reputation with the Split wasn't all that good. Tonight I got myself into their good books. So I shall see what will happen. Aside from that, I have to agree with you. There is always a noisy minority that super-imposes their opinion over a silent majority. I personally like a lot what Egosoft have done to the game. It isn't perfect but nobody ever produces anything that is perfect, so why expect it? :)

I second that. And I would add, that the whole 3.0 and Split Vendetta are a major improvement to X4, which is turning into one of my favorite space games. So congratulations to the whole team, you've done a fantastic job!

I might not agree with every decision you've made, but that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate the hard work you've been doing. You can be proud of yourselves!

Keep up the good work!

There are some missions in vanilla as well. Try the HAT one,

I found that one to be quite solid...and it's very accessible as well since I don't think you need to meet requisites other than not being enemies with them. (Will appear as important task once you enter their territory)

Thanks mate. Will check this tomorrow. Now I need sleep. Deprived after a long night gaming last night and an equally long day working today. :o

The paranid plot requires good relations with both factions.
I'd be good if the game could recognise if you've wiped a faction out and mark it as completed.

I have HOP at -30 and their empire consists of some space-dust floating around so I'll never be able to complete that mission.

Well wiping out a faction clearly goes against that plot, anyway. That's like killing the main character and then wondering why there's no main story anymore

As someone who seems to have played the plots. Coulld you tell me what should happen when the Argon Exploration ship comes through the gate and a cutscene
Plays? After the cutscene was over I did not see sny mission nor what I should do with the information about this Exploration ship. It bothers me I might have missed to get a plot starting.

As far as I can tell (I could be wrong) You can get one of TWO of these cutscenes. Either it is an Argon ship looking around or a Slave vessel trying to escape. This either is not supposed to lead to a mission but is just a "Hey look you found Split space" nod to the player...or the mission connected to this is buggy (which I doubt at this point because devs would've said something about that by now as it was mentioned a lot)

I am still trying to trigger some other missions like the Buccaneer one and I'm not quite sure but I think that one of the small sub-factions might also hide an additional plot.

TL;DR - I think the Gate cutscene is WORLD BUILDING and not a Plot-starter. I can be wrong on this but it seems that way.

You are spot-on with your observations. The two little cutscenes are world-building ( and not a plot-starter, nor related to any plot/mission).

Woah quick question - I got the cutscene for the Argon ship looking for... well stuff.

Haven't come across a group of escaped slaves, yet. I don't think so, anyway?

What new plotline is there? I'm +10 with ZYA and +14 with FRF. Only one I have is War with Argon... no other special pointers? I've been to (I think) all new sectors except Fires of Victory which I can't find for the life of me.

Edit: I've tried googling extensively to find a list of plots in X4 and how to find/start them... most posts are from 2018 and about the PHQ... nothing about any others from what I've seen if they are in there?

I have good 20+ reputation with both Paranid - how can I trigger this plot?

If they're actually trying to go somewhere they seem intent on fighting the entire split fleet that's at the gate first. Do I have to kill all the Split in the area to follow them? There's about 3 xl ships and 30 S class fighters buzzing about.

EDIT: Alright well that ended up being a challenge.

Spoilery question about that though:

Should this trigger a plot or lead to unlocking the "Yes, Yes, Very Interesting" achievement? It didn't for me. I was able to screen them from the fleet and they just kind of park in the the Argon shipyard once they get there. I guess that's a nice bit of closure - they acknowledge that they did make it - but I do want to make sure I'm not missing something.
I do like the new plots the numerous new plots scattered about - do any of them have multiple or branching ends? One or two of them feel like I must have screwed up or failed some objective but I can't tell if that's just how they're supposed to end.

I finished the HAT plot and after about 10-30 minutes, the boron in the PHQ told me to come see him. Dal Busta showed up and offered to work together.
The PAR/HOP plot was then available if you talked to him again.

Flying into Split space triggered a/the Split plot too with Dal Busta asking me to come talk to him to start it.

Finish the HAT plot and have Dal Busta in your PHQ.
He offers to help you end the civil war and the prerequisites are to have good rep with both paranid factions.
I had PAR at +30 and HOP at -30.

What is the outcome of ending civil war - do factions unite into one, or just make peace?

From the sounds of his intro dialogue and the achievement subtext, the two of them will probably stop fighting each other.
I really doubt Egosoft would merge the factions given the hassle with blueprints and differing rep with other factions etc.

That''s what I'm thinking too about the Split and new Xenon sectors.
People are fighting again and I'm finally making money again.
