New Music

Post by Outliver »

Some of the sectors seem to have gotten new music, most of which I personally find absolutely gorgeous. So, a big thumbs-up there from me! My favorite, musically, (at least as far as I have been able to travel between all the xenon attacks, lately) is the theme of Antigone Memorial. But I also love the more atmospheric ones like Frontier Edge. Also, I have a feeling, that some of the sectors now make better use of the old music (like in Flashpoint). Also the battle music seems much more fitting now in terms of when it's played.

Now, my two questions are:

1.) Will the new music be added to the bonus content for owners of the collectors' edition?

2.) I know from things like "On the eve of battle" (which btw. also plays nicely now and is a perfect match for the pause-mode planning phase right before heading into the action), that the engine is capable of looping scores. Does it support loop points, though? Because, whereas some themes (especially, the more ambient, less melodic ones) benefit from the silence between loops, some themes (like Antigone Memorial) do not. Now, I understand that they need the intro to work, musically, but that's exactly where my question is coming from ^^

Thanks :)

have you check if this 'new" music isn't actually from X-Rebirth or other previous games?
If they are then they will probably not be added to CE soundtrack.

Plus it's been like half a year when I tried to find out from Egosoft if Split DLC sountrack will be part of Collector Edition.

I haven't played rebirth much, really. But from what I was able to find on youtube, it doesn't seem to be from rebirth. And I'm pretty sure, it's not from one of the previous titles either as I have played all of those for quite some time.

I think, that's always hard to tell for future releases. Composers are usually hired externally on a contract-basis. So, usage, release and copyrights might have to be negotiated per each order.

Has anyone heard much of X3 and Rebirth music in the game? I know they added it in 1.6, but I really never seem to catch any of it in game but maybe I'm derping or not hitting right zones / conditions.

There are definitely Rebirth tracks in the game. There aren't any sector tracks from X3 as far as I can tell. And there is like one track, which I think may have been a main menu track from... X-Tension?

I've heard quite a bit of Rebirth music. Per Aspera Ad Astra seemed to play a lot before Split Vendetta was released.

"Last Farewell" is SO good. It gives me Boron vibes, but refreshed and with a vibe of tragedy (I wonder how Kingdom End is faring), I need them back! Seeing what you've done with Split, I just cant wait for them.

Overall the new tracks are great.

An Era of Perfect Stillness, The Stars Bleed Crimson, and Oblivion's Siren Call are the standout tracks to me but most of it is great stuff.
Heart of Acrimony deserves a mention too.

Here's hoping the next DLC, based on the Alliance of the Word (I'm calling it now :P), has more music too.

I'm waiting for the legacy music mod to be updated. The new music is great, but I like to hear all the tracks from the previous X games as well mixed in with it.

I'm listening to the soundtracks now, including the DLC ones and vanilla ones. Is it Clouds of Fear so many of us hate to hear so repetitively in combat? Sounds quite similar to me. I still wish we had much more variety for combat music!

To the Death, For the Glory! also sounds like one of the very few combat tracks. I do love the new music, but yikes am I sick of this combat music...

"No Battle Music" remains my favorite mod of all time for this reason.

I wish mods like that could be used without having "modified" triggered. I wonder if we can just replace the tracks directly... I thought I looked before and they were packed or something.
