as for now, we have too few forward-mounted slots in all ships, and very limited surplus of missiles (in comparison to x3, respectively). The only ships that can posess a reasonable amount of ammo are destroyers, but they cant mount missile weapons insteadof main battery(and there are only 2 of them).
I suggest making a new turret mode, "Manual fire", that turrets will shoot via button, thus sparing us a precious forward-mounting slots.
Given that dumbiness of AI , like shooting 40 slow heavy missiles on ONE fast xenon ship, and given that super messy and hard process of replenishing ammo, we definitely cant hand missile shooting task to AI.
P.s. EMP missile has 50 km range, but need to be locked on target within 10km, what makes it almost useless. pls make them lock free, to effectively intercept travelling ships in up to 50km radius
also casting ships out of highway with EMP should be good, as for now everything like Xen S mining ships, moving around with travel mode and on highways, are practically invincible. Having that they do this 99% of time we have unbreakable and expanding xenon mining economy.

Whilst there are generally fewer forward slots than in X3, I disagree this is a problem. Reasons for that:
- There are similar (or greater on some fighters) numbers of forward slots to shhips in X2 and XR.
- Kha'ak didn't get forward slot increases in X3 like other races (nerfing their relative power vs X2, XR and X4).

thats yes but, as we dont have atleast 1missile launcher by default, as it were in x2/x3, installing it in forward slot often unacceptable sacrifice. , eg. Cerberus with only 2 forward slots , effectively cuts its forward firepower in half. Having anability to have install launchers in turrets and making them secondary weapon shouldbe a good solution imo

Carriers also have good missile storage, although no front mounts so might be out-of-scope for your point. I am not entirely sure what you mean though as no Small or Medium Ships are able to mount Missile Turrets. Is this an idea to try and limit missile use on Large Civilian ships?letwolf wrote: ↑Sun, 8. Have you tried the grey icons on the HUD for turning individual turrets on and off without needing to enter the ship menus? Those icons are at the top of the screen just below the blue icons for selection turret modes. See Wiki for further info:

Whilst I don't have a view on how far their lock-on range should be, I suspect the reason why the values are different is simply a way to balance gameplay (longer lock-on range makes it easier for the player to catch stuff with low effort) and usability (targets are moving so having a longer flight range helps the missile catch up to things that are locked).
